Huawei will soon release a new foldable smartphone called Nova Flip, the presentation of which is expected to take place on August 6. This will be the first folding phone in the Nova series. The new product will apparently be more affordable than Huawei Pocket smartphones, which are made in the same form factor.
The company published a video on the weibo.com social network in which a member of the music group TFBoys showed off a lime green flip phone from all sides. The entire teaser is a series of clicks and clatters that spell out the word Flip in Morse code.
The Nova Flip smartphone features a small square outer screen instead of the round one found on the foldable Huawei Pocket 2 smartphone introduced earlier this year. The square shape is said to make the outer display more versatile in use.
There are two rear cameras next to the outer screen, while a hole at the top of the inner screen houses the front camera. The device body is surrounded by a metal frame with a SIM card slot at the bottom. The flat power key also doubles as a fingerprint scanner.
Due to the fact that the Nova series of smartphones is aimed at a youth audience, the price of the Nova Flip is expected to be lower than that of the Huawei Pocket 2. It is also expected that on August 6, Huawei will present, in addition to the Nova Flip clamshell, a new MateBook GT laptop, MatePad Pro 12.2 and MatePad tablets Air 2024, as well as the X1 Max printer.
