Alienware, a subsidiary of Dell known for its futuristic gaming laptops, has released new high-performance models Aurora 16 and Aurora 16X with a more laconic and restrained design. Unlike previous models with a “space style”, these devices are made in dark blue with a minimalist logo on the lid. The new products are the successors of last year’s m16 R2 model, which also emphasized restraint.

Both versions have rounded edges for a comfortable grip and the ability to open the laptop with one hand. The case has become more compact due to the elimination of the protruding cooling module (thermal shelf) at the back. Cooling is now carried out through the lower radiator, which takes air from below and discharges it through the rear and side grilles.

The top-end Aurora 16X model features an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX processor, Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 graphics, 64GB of RAM, and a 240Hz display. It also features a metal lid and bottom, an improved webcam, and Thunderbolt 4 support. Unlike the 16X, the base Aurora 16 offers an Intel Core i7-14700H, RTX 4050, and a 120Hz display, with only the lid made of metal.

It is worth noting that this is the first release of laptops under the Aurora brand in the last 20 years, which followed the release of the Area-51 line, announced earlier this year. As noted by Alienware, the update of the sub-brands is connected with Dell’s desire to simplify the naming system. The new laptops will go on sale after PAX East, one of the largest gaming exhibitions.
