The Gematsu portal noticed that the Australian rating commission Australian Classification recently classified an unannounced game based on the Terminator franchise.
According to an entry (already hidden from public access) on the Australian Classification website, the project is called Terminator 2D: No Fate and is planned for release on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, as well as Nintendo Switch.
The publisher and developer of Terminator 2D: No Fate is the British company Reef Entertainment, which in November 2019 released the shooter Terminator: Resistance from the Polish studio Teyon.
From the Australian regulator, Terminator 2D: No Fate received an age rating of M (“from 15 years old”). The issuance of this classification was due to the themes raised in the game, the presence of profanity and the depiction of violence.
As the name suggests, Terminator 2D: No Fate will be 2D. Australian Classification does not specify the genre, but users assume that we are talking about an old-school action platformer in the spirit of the classic Terminator games.
Classification does not guarantee that Terminator 2D: No Fate will be close to release, however, Terminator: Resistance received an age rating from Australian Classification two weeks before the official announcement.
It’s worth noting that Terminator 2D: No Fate is not the only Terminator game in development. The open-world survival simulator Terminator: Survivors from Nacon Studio Milan is preparing for release in Steam Early Access.
