The recent debut of the Huawei Mate 70 family of smartphones occurred in a kind of “off-season” from a marketing point of view, but this did not prevent the demand for them from exceeding the manufacturer’s expectations and being “excessive,” according to company representatives. The latter admitted that the number of pre-orders for devices in this series exceeded 6.7 million units. This is more than the company initially expected.

For this reason, according to He Gang, head of consumer business at Huawei Technologies, supply specialists are now working overtime to create conditions to meet demand for the brand’s new smartphones. The Mate 70 family of smartphones also became the first mass carrier of the HarmonyOS Next operating system, embodying Huawei’s success in creating a sovereign software platform for mobile devices. The new OS for the first time in the history of Huawei made it possible to abandon the software code inherited from Android.

He, in an interview with Securities Times, added that it will take two to three years to improve the user experience with HarmonyOS Next, and all Huawei smartphones that will be presented next year will be equipped with it initially. Statements by a Huawei representative about high demand for smartphones of the Mate 70 family to a certain extent refute the forecasts of TechInsights analysts, who suggested that in the fourth quarter Huawei will be able to sell no more than 3 million new smartphones due to problems with the availability of components and not the best timing for the announcement .
