Huawei and BAIC have released a premium electric sedan Stellato S9 starting at $56 thousand

Chinese IT giant Huawei Technologies is inexorably expanding cooperation with local automakers. The company is involved in the development of electric vehicles under the Seres (Aito), Luxeed, Maextro and Avatr brands, and this week above is the first car created by Huawei in collaboration with BAIC – the Stellato S9 electric sedan of the new brand of the same name. Deliveries of the new product will begin tomorrow.

Apparently, the suffixes for designating configurations, following the example of Xiaomi, are borrowed from the world of smartphones: the younger version of the Stellato S9 Max will cost Chinese buyers $55,910, the older S9 Ultra raises the bar to quite respectable by Chinese standards $62,888. With a wheelbase length of 3050 mm, the car has overall dimensions 5160 × 1987 × 1486 mm (L × W × H). Mention is also made of the length of the interior, which reaches 3460 mm and is a source of special pride for Huawei. The aerodynamic drag coefficient was reduced to 0.193, and the creators claim that this is the best indicator among production sedans in the luxury segment.

The electric power plant is focused on a voltage of 800 V, which allows you to quickly replenish the charge of the CATL traction battery, whose capacity reaches 100 kWh and provides 816 km of cruising range in the conventional CLTC cycle for the Max version and 721 km for the Ultra version. As you might guess, the basic version of the Stellato S9 Max is a rear-wheel drive electric vehicle, the power of the traction motor is 227 kW (308.6 hp), and this car accelerates to 100 km/h in 5.98 seconds. The Ultra version adds an electric motor on the front axle, producing 158 kW, resulting in a total output of 523 hp. and provides acceleration to “hundreds” in 3.9 seconds.

Huawei was responsible for developing the active driver assistance system ADS 3.0, and this sedan is the first vehicle to be equipped with it. In addition to BAIC, Huawei Technologies is associated with cooperation with automakers Changan (Avatr), Seres (Aito), Luxeed (Chery) and Maextro (JAC). The latest alliance should bear its first fruits in 2025.
