Perseverance rover photographed Martian snowman made of rocks

NASA’s Perseverance rover sent back to Earth a photo of a section of the surface of Mars with several rock formations taken on July 13, that is, on Sol 1208 (Martian days) on the Red Planet. In the lower left corner of the photo there was a small stack of stones that looked like a tiny snowman.

The Perseverance rover remains in Jezero Crater, where it landed on February 18, 2021. And now the rover has begun moving to a new location as part of its ongoing exploration of the Red Planet.

If you ask yourself whether it is possible to build a real snowman on Mars, then most likely the answer will be “no”. Although Mars has a thin, thin atmosphere, its climate is marked by extreme weather events – from dust storms to, technically, even snow. Although this was not always the case. According to the findings of NASA’s MAVEN mission, in the past Mars had a fairly dense atmosphere, and water could have remained on its surface for a long period of time.

There is still water on Mars, scientists say, but due to its current thin atmosphere, that water will only be able to remain liquid for a limited period of time. And at present it can only be found under the surface of the polar regions of the Red Planet.
