Qualcomm has scheduled a new product launch event for Wednesday, April 2, to unveil a new flagship processor. It’s not expected to be a more powerful version of the current Snapdragon 8 Elite flagship chip, but a successor to last year’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, which powers upper-midrange smartphones like the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra, Honor 200 Pro, and Poco F7 Pro.

According to the latest rumors, Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 has a 1+3+2+2 core configuration, where the main core is the Cortex-X4 with a frequency of 3.21 GHz. The chip also has three Cortex-A720 cores with a frequency of 3.01 GHz, two Cortex-A720 with a frequency of 2.8 GHz, and two more Cortex-A720 operating at a frequency of 2.02 GHz.
Qualcomm is also expected to introduce a new mobile GPU, the Adreno 825. It will be similar to the Adreno 830 found in the Snapdragon 8 Elite, but will offer fewer graphics cores. The processor also includes 6 MB of SLC cache and 8 MB of L3 cache. According to leaks, smartphones with the new chip will deliver performance above 2 million points in the AnTuTu test.
The announcement of the first devices with the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 processor is also expected in April. According to the GSMArena portal, they will be iQOO Z10 Turbo Pro and Redmi Turbo 4 Pro.
