2024 was another year of Apple’s dominance in the ranking of the most popular smartphones in the world, the GSMarena resource with reference to the research of the analytical company Canlys said. According to analysts, seven out of ten best -selling smartphones in 2024 were made by Apple. The 2024 bestseller was the Apple iPhone 15 model.
The only brand whose devices were also included in the ten most popular smartphones was Samsung with budget models Galaxy A15 and A15 5G, as well as the flagship Galaxy S24 Ultra.
The iPhone 15 accounts for approximately 3 % of 1.22 billion smartphones sold in 2024, which is 36.6 million. The second and third place in terms of sales in 2024 took the iPhone 16 Pro Max and iPhone 15 Pro Max, respectively.

The leading five is closed by the Samsung Galaxy A15 and iPhone 16 Pro. In the sixth and seventh places are the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16. The Galaxy A15 5G has eighth place, and the S24 Ultra has the ninth. The last place in the top ten sold is occupied by the iPhone 13, whose share in the total volume of global supplies of smartphones is 1.5 %, and in total, 18.3 million units of this model were sold in total.
As Canalys noted, five of the ten best-selling devices in 2024 are flagship, while in the TOP 10 2023 there were four flagship devices. Canalys analysts suggests that buyers in the premium segment are ready to “fork out” on the most advanced devices, that is, the iPhone Pro and Pro Max Mods in Apple and Galaxy Ultra from the Galaxy S. series.
