Last summer, GameStop management closed the legendary gaming magazine Game Informer, which had been in business for 33 years, and now the publication has announced its return from the dead – with its former team and in full force.

Game Informer’s resurrection was made possible by Frankfurt-based studio Gunzilla Games (Off the Grid), co-founded by District 9 and Gran Turismo director Neill Blomkamp.

Gunzilla Games bought the rights to Game Informer from GameStop and insisted that the publication remain independent. Game Informer now operates as a separate company called Game Informer Inc.

Game Informer editor-in-chief Matt Miller said he was deeply grateful to Gunzilla Games for the second chance: “They saw the same potential in Game Informer that our team sees.”

«“Our goal is to continue to shine a light on the coolest games, celebrate the history and legacy of the industry, and shine a spotlight on the creators and gamers who are paving the way for the future,” Miller said.

Following the resurrection, the official Game Informer website has reopened, where you can find more than a dozen reviews of games released during the publication’s period of inactivity, as well as a belated rating of the best projects of 2024.

In addition, Game Informer plans to resume publication of the magazine (in print and digital formats), but to make it “bigger and better than before.” Those interested are invited to create a new account on the site.
