Intel has taken a dig at its two biggest rivals, AMD and Nvidia, in its latest product security report. Intel says AMD has more than four times as many software vulnerabilities, while Nvidia has 80 percent more GPU security issues.

The first three points of the latest 2024 Intel Product Security Report are dedicated to the company itself. In them, it, in particular, emphasizes the effectiveness of its internal product security research group. According to Intel, last year 96% of new software vulnerabilities and 100% of problems related to its hardware products were discovered by the company itself.
The last three bullet points in Intel’s report focus on its two main competitors, AMD and Nvidia. According to Intel, AMD reported “4.4 times more software vulnerabilities related to the hardware root of trust” and “1.8 times more software vulnerabilities in their sensitive computing technologies” in its security reports than Intel. Nvidia, meanwhile, reported only high-severity vulnerabilities in 2024.
Intel also claims that AMD independently discovered only 57% of all known new vulnerabilities in its products. This means that the remaining 43% of security issues were discovered by third-party researchers. Additionally, Intel notes that AMD products currently have 78 vulnerabilities for which “no fixes are planned,” which may indicate that AMD has not yet found a solution for them. Intel, on the other hand, said it has mitigated or completely fixed all discovered hardware root of trust vulnerabilities in all of its affected products.
Intel also boasted that its GPUs had fewer vulnerabilities than its competitors, with just 10 issues, of which only one was considered high-risk. The rest were classified as medium-risk. Meanwhile, Nvidia reported 18 security issues with its GPUs, all of which were high-risk. Of these, 13 could potentially allow attackers to remotely execute code on a vulnerable PC.
