Apple has killed off the iPhone SE line, with the iPhone 16e coming first, which is more expensive than any of the previous-generation budget models, but still cheaper than the main iPhone 16 line. And it’s proven to be a surprisingly durable device.

The YouTube channel JerryRigEverything conducted a comprehensive durability test of the iPhone 16e. The tests began with the screen, which was scratched with hardness testers – the marks were left by tools with hardness levels of 6 and 7 on the Mohs scale. The frame of the smartphone turned out to be aluminum, the buttons were also metal, and protective meshes were found under the speaker holes to prevent water from getting in. The glass back panel also showed itself to be worthy. The screen withstood exposure to open fire for about 20 seconds, after which the pixels turned white, but the effect was temporary – after rebooting, the display continued to work almost in its previous form.
The Apple iPhone 16e passed the bending test without bending or breaking. Then the authors of the extreme review disassembled the smartphone, demonstrated the absence of MagSafe magnets and a new method for removing the battery, which peels off under the influence of electricity. Finally, the camera module with optical image stabilizer was subjected to merciless disassembly. After assembly, the pretty battered iPhone 16e continued to work in the same mode, although it warned that it could not find the camera – it was no longer there by that time.
