The Verge senior editor Tom Warren, citing his sources, reports that Microsoft has begun testing an early version of its Copilot for Gaming AI assistant, announced in March, among employees.

According to Warren’s sources, Microsoft employees were given access to Copilot in the Xbox mobile app, a version of the chatbot that resembles the existing one but is designed to integrate with an Xbox account.
Copilot for Gaming currently includes the ability to “pull up” recent achievements, get game recommendations based on your history, and tips on how to complete the game. The chatbot can also be used to download/install games on your Xbox console.
As with the existing version of Copilot, the user can type their request to the chatbot or speak a question. The assistant’s available voices include energetic, wise, calm, and courageous.

In the future, Microsoft plans to add animated versions of the assistant’s characters to the Copilot game and a Copilot Vision feature that will allow the AI to “see” the user’s screen and assist them during gameplay.
The initial version of Copilot for Gaming will be available to Xbox Insider program participants very soon (promised in April). Microsoft is going to actively improve the AI assistant based on user feedback.
According to a March announcement, Copilot for Gaming will eventually be available on multiple devices, including Xbox consoles, as an assistant and companion that can provide advice on games, loading them, launching them, and more.
