Focus Entertainment and Saber Interactive have addressed fan concerns about the potential transformation of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 into a game-as-service in their monthly message to users.

According to the authors, the recently launched themed events with the ability to unlock new cosmetic items caused a “lukewarm reaction” from players, including due to the phenomenon of FoMO (fear of missing out).

«We have noticed that many of you have mentioned [the fear of missing out] caused by these events. Don’t worry, we have no intention of turning Space Marine 2 into a full-fledged game-as-service,” the developers assured.

As the creators of Space Marine 2 explained, the items given out during events will be available to everyone later. Events are a way to reward the most passionate fans, not a source of stress for the rest.

The creators also “deeply apologized for the issues” and promised to simplify the process of unlocking the items in question to create an experience that is less restrictive.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 was released on September 9, 2024 on PC (Steam, EGS), PS5, Xbox Series X and S. The developers are currently working on the launch of test servers (expected in March), patch 7.0 and the promised Horde mode.
