Let’s recall that a special Nintendo Direct dedicated to Switch 2 was announced back in January. The presentation was expected on April 2 at 16:00 Moscow time.
As it became known, the duration of the upcoming Nintendo Direct broadcast with details of Switch 2 will be about 60 minutes, which is a record in the history of such informational broadcasts by Nintendo.
Additionally, following the Nintendo Switch 2 reveal, there will be two Nintendo Treehouse: Live broadcasts, which Nintendo hasn’t done since 2023, in anticipation of the release of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
Nintendo Treehouse: Live streams will begin on April 3 and 4 at 17:00 Moscow time and will include real gameplay of games for Nintendo Switch 2 (which ones exactly, is not specified). You can follow the progress of the broadcasts on YouTube.
The Nintendo Switch 2 will be released in 2025. According to insider Tom Henderson, the console will launch in June with pre-orders opening on April 9, not on the day of a special Nintendo Direct, as a recent leak suggested.
The console will be backwards compatible with the Switch, with the exception of a few unnamed titles. There will also be exclusives and “Switch 2 edition” games (likely improved ports from the original Switch).
