Microsoft has released a new YouTube ad with the tagline “We’re Faster Than Mac,” in which the company claims its flagship Windows Copilot+ PCs outperform the previous M3-powered MacBook Air by 58% on the Cinebench 2024 multi-threaded benchmark.

While the comparison was made with an older MacBook Air, the company notes that some Copilot+ PCs also outperform even the newest MacBook Air models with the M4 chip on the same tests. The devices tested included the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x with a Snapdragon X Elite processor, the Microsoft Surface Laptop with the same chip, and the HP OmniBook Ultra 14 with AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 375.
However, while some PCs do perform better in certain tests, Apple says the M4 family of chips continues to deliver industry-leading performance, allowing the MacBook Air to combine high processing power, long battery life, and a thin, light, fanless design.
