Microsoft has begun gradually expanding testing among Windows Insiders of the Recall preview feature, which allows users to take screenshots of their Copilot+PC user actions and return to them later, The Verge reports, citing a company blog post about the release of Windows 11 Build 26100.3902 (KB5055627).

The controversial Recall feature was introduced last May. The company had planned to launch Recall with the Copilot+ PC in June, but was forced to delay the release due to concerns raised by security experts. A planned October launch of the feature as part of the Windows Insiders program was also delayed after it was discovered that more time was needed to refine the feature to provide a more “secure and reliable experience.”

The Verge believes the new rollout could mean Microsoft is finally getting closer to a wider launch of Recall.

As Microsoft claims in its blog post, Recall will save you time by offering a completely new way to safely find what you saw or did on your PC. Using the artificial intelligence capabilities of Copilot+PC, you can quickly find and return to any app, website, image, or document simply by describing its contents. “As you use Copilot+PC throughout your day — working on documents or presentations, taking video calls, and switching between activities — Recall will regularly take screenshots and help you find them faster and easier,” Microsoft writes, while ensuring that you can pause the screenshots at any time.
