The Chinese company Dasung has released a compact monochrome touchscreen monitor, Paperlike 103, equipped with a 10.3-inch electronic ink panel. The peculiarity of the new product is its support for a refresh rate of 60 Hz, which sets it apart from other similar solutions that support a significantly lower refresh rate.

The faster the image on the screen is updated, the smoother the movements of objects appear, and watching videos and reading text becomes more comfortable. Paperlike 103 is priced at 1,999 yuan ($276) and is available for sale on online marketplace JD.com.

The monitor has a ratio of sides 4: 3 and supports the resolution of 1872 × 1404 pixels. The pixel density of Paperlike 103 is 227 PPI. This is lower than the ENK screens of Kindle Paperwhite, Scribe and other electronic books. At the same time, it offers similar settings of backlighting and adjusting the color temperature, which do not hit the eyes with prolonged use.

The monitor case is made of aluminum alloy with a thickness of only five millimeters, which makes the device at the same time light and quite strong. The monitor is not equipped with its own batteries, which otherwise would add weight to him. To connect to the signal and power source, Paperlike 103 uses the USB-C interface.

The new product is equipped with six physical buttons. They are responsible for turning the monitor on and off, adjusting brightness, backlight color temperature, and switching between different display modes optimized for viewing text, video or images.
