Leaks continue to emerge about the successor to the Vision Pro augmented reality headset. According to the latest, Apple is focusing on creating a significantly lighter “thin” model of the headset, provisionally called Apple Vision Air. To reduce weight, the company is making extensive use of titanium, although the outer “midnight black surface” of the device will still be made of aluminum.

Today, an insider with the nickname Kosutami posted a message on the social network X: “The next device in the Vision line is extremely thin, uses titanium to reduce weight, including the ports and battery compartment, and comes in an iPhone 5-era black that looks like a dark blue graphite. And note: [the headset] may not be called Pro, you might call it Air.”

In a subsequent post, Kosutami clarified that the Vision Air will still use aluminum for most of the “midnight black” exterior, with titanium used internally to reduce weight. He also posted an image of the new port for the Vision Air, which is noticeably larger than the standard Lightning port.

Experts say the prospects for a potential Apple Vision Air are “particularly intriguing.” They believe that if Apple can make a headset that is significantly lighter, thinner, and cheaper than the Vision Pro, it “could be a compelling next-generation product.”

In February 2025, Apple officially confirmed that its generative AI platform, Apple Intelligence, would be coming to the Vision Pro headset with the release of visionOS 2.4. The first beta version of the software was made available to developers on February 21, with a public release planned for April.
