Following recent revelations to IGN, Electronic Arts shared new details about the next Battlefield as part of its Investor Day 2024 presentation.
According to EA Entertainment President Laura Miele, Battlefield is based on “total war”, “grand scale”, “massive destruction” and “intense action”.
The most significant successes of the series have been achieved by adhering to these fundamentals. Mili admitted that Battlefield 2042, released in 2021, did not live up to fans’ expectations, but with the new part everything will be different.
Battlefield brand general manager Byron Beede added that in order to achieve the greatest resonance with fans, the next game in the series has been tested “almost daily” for over a year.
In addition to internal testing, the team is already engaging with community members and plans to launch a “large-scale” public testing program for the game in early 2025.
Earlier, the head of Battlefield, Vince Zampella, confirmed that the events of the new Battlefield will unfold in a modern setting, and the project itself is positioned as a return to the roots with matches for 64 players and a class system.
According to Tom Henderson, the release of the new Battlefield is scheduled for October 2025. The game will be part of a single Battlefield universe, which will allegedly also include the free-to-play battle royale game from Ripple Effect.
