This week, Samsung unveiled the ultra-thin Galaxy S25 Edge, which measures just 5.85mm thick. Now, the company has released two promotional videos poking fun at the iPhone’s bulkier design.

The Korean division of Samsung posted two videos on the social network Instagram✴, in which it compared its new smartphone Galaxy S25 Edge and some “other smartphone” in which the iPhone 16 Pro is easily recognizable. The first video emphasizes the lightness of the Samsung smartphone.

At the beginning, both smartphones are shown floating in the air thanks to 61 balloons attached to each of them. Gradually, the number of balloons in each bunch decreases, as a result of which the iPhone begins to descend, while the Galaxy S25 Edge remains in the air, despite the fact that by the end of the video it is supported by one less balloon. As a reminder, the Galaxy S25 Edge weighs 163 g, and the iPhone 16 Pro weighs 199 g.

In the second video, two smartphones are placed on moving conveyor belts. The belts have barriers with a gradually decreasing gap in the middle. The smartphones pass through the barriers, and at one point, the iPhone gets stuck on a barrier with an 8 mm gap. At the same time, the Galaxy S25 Edge successfully overcomes a gap of 5.8 mm.

It should be noted that Samsung had to make certain sacrifices to create such a thin smartphone. Thus, the Galaxy S25 Edge is equipped with a 3900 mAh battery – even smaller than the standard Galaxy S25. In addition, the main camera consists of two sensors, among which there is no telephoto module, and the wired charging power is 25 W instead of 45 W, like the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

Samsung’s ultra-thin smartphone is set to get a competitor this year. Apple is expected to release the iPhone 17 Air in the second half of the year, rumored to be between 5.5mm and 5.65mm thick. However, little is known about Apple’s upcoming thin smartphone at this point.
