As part of the annual IFA 2024 exhibition, which is about to begin in Berlin, Acer announced the expansion of the Swift AI laptop line with new models based on Intel Lunar Lake, Qualcomm Snapdragon X Plus and AMD Ryzen AI 300 processors. According to the manufacturer, each of them can work autonomously for more than 24 hours when watching videos and more than 17 hours when performing tasks requiring high productivity.
Acer said in a statement that when purchasing the new Swift AI laptop with IPS display and 65 Wh battery from the Swift 14 AI starting at $1,199 and Swift 14 Go AI starting at $999, you can expect the following battery life:
- Versions with Intel processors – 23 hours of web surfing, 29 hours of video playback;
- Versions with an AMD processor – 19 hours of web surfing, 27 hours of video playback;
- Versions with a Qualcomm processor – 19.5 hours of web surfing, 28 hours of video playback.
The updated Swift AI devices differ not only in terms of autonomy. In addition to the IPS display, the Swift 14 AI will be available in a version with a premium OLED display. Users will be able to choose between versions of the laptop with Intel Core Ultra 5 or Intel Core Ultra 7 chips (model SF14-51), as well as an AMD Ryzen AI 9 365 processor (model SF14-61).
Intel-powered versions of the laptop will be available with 3K or 2K OLED displays, while the AMD-powered model will only have a 3K OLED display. If you choose the version with IPS display, the user will get a 2K screen with a refresh rate of 120 Hz.
In the maximum configuration, the device is equipped with 32 GB of RAM. The model with an AMD chip can also be equipped with an SSD with a capacity of up to 2 TB, while the version with an Intel chip comes with a drive of up to 1 TB. The design provides two USB Type-C interfaces – models with Intel chips are equipped with Thunderbolt 4 ports, while AMD uses USB4. In addition to this, there are two USB Type-A 3.2 ports and an HDMI 2.1 interface. Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 standards are supported. The Swift 14 AI retails for $1,200 and will go on sale later this month.
For those looking for a laptop with a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and a lower starting price, the Swift Go 14 AI is a good choice. The device is equipped with a 14.5-inch screen – you can choose from an IPS display with a resolution of 2560 × 1600 pixels and a maximum brightness of 350 cd/m² or a resolution of 1920 × 1200 pixels and a brightness of 300 cd/m². Both are less bright than versions with Intel and AMD chips, but support a 120Hz refresh rate.
Otherwise, the Swift Go 14 AI is similar in terms of specifications to the Swift 14 AI. It supports up to 32 GB of RAM, has a camera with a resolution of 1440p, a fingerprint scanner, a pair of USB Type-C connectors, two USB Type-A connectors, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 wireless modules. The new Swift Go 14 AI starts at $999 and goes on sale this month.
At the same time, Acer introduced the new Swift 16 AI, which will be available in versions with Intel Core Ultra 5, Ultra 7 and Ultra 9 generation Lunar Lake processors. In the maximum configuration, the device is equipped with a storage capacity of 2 TB and an OLED touch display with 3K resolution. The power source is a 75 Wh rechargeable battery.
As for the available interfaces, the Swift 16 AI design has two USB Type-C (Thunderbolt 4) interfaces, two USB Type-A ports, an HDMI 2.1 port, and an audio jack. There are Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 adapters. The Swift 16 AI starts at $1,200 and will begin shipping in October this year.
