LG Display has announced the start of mass production of 27-inch OLED panels with QHD resolution, 480 Hz refresh rate and ultra-high response speed, DisplaySpecifications reports. The new product is intended for use in gaming monitors in the upper price segment, the demand for which has been steadily growing recently.

Key specifications for gaming displays are refresh rate, which measures the number of frames per second displayed, and response time, which measures how quickly the screen responds to signals from the computer, delivering smoother, clearer images. The new LG Display panel is up to the challenge, offering an ultra-fast 480Hz refresh rate coupled with a record-breaking 0.02ms response time and QHD resolution (2560 x 1440 pixels). Interestingly, the 0.02ms response time is 0.01ms faster than the previous record of 0.03ms, which is especially valuable in fast-paced games like shooters and racing games.

In addition, the optimized WRGB (White, Red, Green, Blue) pixel structure improves text readability compared to conventional screens, and the four-sided bezel-less design enhances immersion in the game. LG Display’s OLED gaming panels feature META Technology, which improves image quality by coating the sensor with a microscopic lens array (MLA), maximizing brightness and minimizing glare that can be distracting, especially in dark scenes.

Another advantage of LG Display’s OLED panels is that blue light emissions, which are potentially harmful to the eyes, are halved compared to LCD screens. OLED panels are also flicker-free, which is important for reducing overall fatigue during long gaming sessions.

We can expect that soon many monitor manufacturers will present their new gaming products built on the new advanced panel from LG. LG itself is also unlikely to miss the opportunity to release a display on such an OLED panel.
