Xiaomi has significantly expanded the capabilities for launching games on tablets – the Chinese company introduced the WinPlay system function, which ensures the launch of Windows games on tablets with Hyper OS, which, in turn, is based on Android.
The WinPlay engine is based on Xiaomi HyperCore technology, which creates a virtual environment on the tablet with the ability to run Windows games with high performance and stable operation. Owners of Android devices can directly download and run games on them from the Steam and GOG platforms. A wide range of peripherals are supported, including gamepads, keyboards and mice; as well as a multiplayer mode for up to four players. The WinPlay system is optimized to work with an Xbox controller that supports haptic feedback.
When running Xiaomi WinPlay, the loss of GPU performance is only 2.9%, showed the results of testing conducted by the company. WinPlay consumes 8.3 W and is a three-layer virtualization system for processing core APIs, rendering images and executing commands with minimal resource use. For now, Windows games can only be played on the Pad 6S Pro 12.4 tablet running Hyper OS 2 Beta—device owners can take part in the system testing program. The application can be submitted through the Xiaomi Community application; You will need to update your tablet to the latest firmware and transfer the files of the desired game to the specified directory on the device. Currently, Xiaomi WinPlay only allows you to run games – standard Windows applications are not supported.
