Nvidia allowed the specialized press and bloggers to conduct and show the unboxing of the reference version of the flagship GeForce RTX 5090 generation Blackwell video card. Judging by the published photographs, the new product really turned out to be very compact. It also turned out that for the new generation of accelerators, Nvidia changed the design of the branded box, moving to a more environmentally friendly solution.

All GeForce RTX Founders Edition graphics cards come in high-quality packaging. The process of unpacking it is usually intended to emphasize that there is a high quality product inside.

For the GeForce RTX Founders Edition series of video cards, the company decided to use an environmentally friendly box, or rather two, since the large cardboard box contains another smaller one, in which the video card is located.


Everything inside is “Spartan”: a video card, a new adapter from four 8-pin connectors to one 12+4-pin 12v-2×6 and installation instructions. The RTX 5080 and RTX 5070 Ti models will be equipped with an adapter from three 8-pin to one 12v-2×6, and the RTX 5070 model will be equipped with an adapter from two 8-pin to 12+4-pin.



The new packaging of GeForce RTX Founders Edition video cards does not contain plastic, its design is dominated by beige color instead of black, and the volume of the packaging itself has been halved.

The GeForce RTX 5090 video card has also become thinner than its predecessor. While the latter occupied three expansion slots, the new model is two slots thick.

The first reviews of the reference version of the RTX 5090, as well as models that will be offered at Nvidia’s recommended price of $1,999, are expected on January 23. More expensive versions will be reviewed on January 24th. The RTX 5090 is scheduled to launch on January 30th.
