The creators of Diablo IV from Blizzard Entertainment and Hollywood actress Whoopi Goldberg have publicly buried the hatchet. In the presence of the general manager of the series and Lilith herself, no less.
Recall that at the release of Diablo IV in June 2023, Goldberg, a big fan of the series, discovered that the game was incompatible with Mac computers (unlike Diablo III) and publicly condemned Blizzard for this.
The developer issued the actress a refund for the purchase, but, unfortunately for her, the game has not yet been transferred to Apple computers. Goldberg is not offended: “I understand that this is not in your control, because [Diablo] is now owned by Microsoft.”
That was almost a year ago, and on July 20, 2024, Diablo general manager Rod Fergusson, accompanied by cosplayers Lilith and Inaria, attended A Night With Whoopi to give Goldberg the “key to hell.”
The souvenir is a copy of an accessory that opens a passage to the Underworld. Goldberg happily accepted this sign of friendship and even played Diablo IV with Fergusson. The photos were published by Entertainment Weekly.
As the PC Gamer portal noted, Blizzard probably chose the time for a truce with the actress not by chance: Diablo IV turned one year old last month, and now the publisher has launched an advertising campaign for the Vessel of Hatred add-on.
Vessel of Hatred will be released on October 8 on PC (Battle.net, Steam), PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S. They promise a continuation of the story of the main game, a class of the heir to the spirits, the vast Nahantu region, a mercenary system, and so on.
