Following the Canadian studio Humanoid Origin, co-author of the Mass Effect trilogy Casey Hudson, the new team of another BioWare veteran finds itself in an unenviable position.
We are talking about the Worlds Untold studio, which was founded last fall by the director of Mass Effect Legendary Edition and one of the leading writers of the Mass Effect trilogy, Mac Walters.
In a statement on the business social networking site LinkedIn, Walters said that Worlds Untold has made the “difficult decision” to suspend operations (there is no talk of a complete closure, as is the case with Humanoid) to find a new partner.
According to insider shinobi602, the lack of funding for Worlds Untold is due to the fact that NetEase is reducing investments in Western studios – the Chinese company also supported Humanoid Origin.
«While we’re putting everything on pause now, this isn’t goodbye—there’s more to come, and we can’t wait to share the next chapter [of the Worlds Untold story] with you when the time is right,” Walters said.
Walters noted that the studio will help employees with future employment and thanked the team for the work done: “We are all prouder than ever of what this team has built.”
The debut game of Worlds Untold was supposed to be a sci-fi action adventure set in the near future. They promised “exciting worlds filled with mysteries and opportunities to explore.”
