Last Tuesday, Microsoft released the next security update package KB5046633 for Windows 11 23H2. However, after installing this update, some users noticed a strange message appeared, which states that support for the operating system will soon end and recommends upgrading to a more current version of the platform.

This announcement surprised users as Windows 11 23H2 is expected to continue receiving feature updates and security patches until November 11, 2025. A Microsoft support representative later confirmed that the message about the end of support for Windows 11 23H2 was erroneous. Developers at Microsoft are already looking into the issue and it is expected that it will be resolved by making appropriate changes on the server side, probably within a week.

It is curious that along with the message about the imminent end of support for Windows 11 23H2, there is a suggestion to check for updates. This also surprised users, since KB5046633 is the most current package at the moment. Users are advised to reboot the OS several times to get rid of the mentioned message. What exactly caused this message to appear is still unknown.
