Senior gameplay animator at Sucker Punch Productions Jean Nguyen, in his free time from working on Ghost of Yotei, is preparing an unusual action role-playing game Dinoblade for release on Steam.
Dinoblade was born from Nguyen’s comic animation of a dinosaur using a huge sword from Final Fantasy VII. Word for word, and from a simple meme the project turned into a full-fledged game, which recently received a page on Steam.
Dinoblade’s debut on Steam was accompanied by a short (36-second) gameplay trailer, which apparently turned out to be very effective: in the first 24 hours, more than 10 thousand users added the game to their wishlist.
The events of Dinoblade will unfold shortly after some important phenomenon that changed our understanding of dinosaurs. Probably, we are talking about their ability to use huge piercing and cutting weapons.
In the story, in the role of a young Spinosaurus with a two-handed sword clenched in his teeth, players will have to go on a dangerous journey to prevent the extinction of their relatives and become the alpha male.
The developer promises battles with other dinosaurs armed to the teeth, a combat system with parries, dodges and rolls, breathtaking biomes, a variety of enemies, bosses and a leveling system.
Dinoblade does not have a release date yet. According to Nguyen, the game has been in production for just over 12 months. It is quite possible that after the release of Ghost of Yotei in 2025, development will accelerate.
