Eviden supercomputers took first place in the Green500 rating of environmentally friendly systems

Eviden, a member of the Atos group, announced that 55 of its supercomputers were included in the TOP500 list of the most productive computing machines, and two of them are leading the Green500 ranking of the most energy-efficient supercomputers in the world, reports HPC Wire.

Over the past 10 years, computing power has grown exponentially, due in part to advances in artificial intelligence systems. At the same time, energy consumption is also growing – reducing it has become one of the main tasks in the development and construction of supercomputers.

There are three Eviden machines in the top ten of the Green500 rankings, each of which uses proprietary direct liquid cooling technology that uses warm water to cool the supercomputer at up to 40°C, helping to dissipate more than 97% of heat.

The first place in the ranking is occupied by the JEDI module of the JUPITER supercomputer, the first exascale system in Europe, created as part of the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking program.

In second place is ROMEO 2025, built for the University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne (URCA). Sixth place in Green500 is occupied by another, newest module of the JUPITER supercomputer – JETI. In other words, Eviden strives to offer customers not only high-performance machines, but also environmentally sustainable, fuel-efficient machines.

The TOP500 of the most productive supercomputers built by the company included the French AI system Jean Zay (No. 27), the latest German JETI module for JUPITER (No. 18) and the Gefion system for the Danish Center for Innovation in Artificial Intelligence (DCAI) at number 21.

According to an Eviden representative, the company’s systems lead the Green500 rating and “strengthen Europe’s leadership” in the HPC computing market. Eviden, which employs 41 thousand people, offers solutions in the field of artificial intelligence, cloud platforms and provides services in more than 47 countries. The annual revenue of this division of the Atos Group is approximately 5 billion euros.
