Anonymous question and answer service Ask.fm will stop working on December 1

The Ask.fm service for anonymous questions and answers will end on December 1, 2024. This was reported on the website of the platform, created in Latvia in June 2010 as a competitor to another network for questions and answers – Formspring. In 2014, the service had 180 million registered users, but since then its audience has decreased significantly.

«This difficult decision follows a significant decline in our user base. Unfortunately, our “Ask and Answer” platform no longer meets the needs of modern social media users,” the message noted.

Since October 24, registration of new users on the platform has been suspended. Support for features will also be gradually removed. As for user data, they will be deleted first. However, in some cases, it may take up to 90 days for limited types of data to be completely deleted, the administration warned.

«Thank you to everyone who was curious enough to ask and was brave enough to give sincere answers,” the project leaders concluded.
