Following the September announcement, Aspyr studio shared new details on the PlayStation blog for the Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered collection, and also presented a boss trailer.
According to the developers, the team’s goal when updating each boss in Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver and Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 2 was to improve the textures without compromising the original vision.
Most notably, Aspyr completely redesigned Rahab’s head model, polluted Duma’s armor, and brought Cain’s appearance (in both games) closer to how he looked in the cinematic FMV cutscenes.
To simplify navigation along the winding paths of Nosgoth, the developers have added a world map and a compass (can be disabled in the settings if desired), which will push the player in the right direction.
The remaster will also feature a counter for collected health and energy upgrades in each location. The listed improvements, as conceived by the authors, increase the convenience of exploration and the friendliness of games towards beginners.
Among other things, they promise updated graphics with a switch to the old, improved camera, modernized controls, photo mode, achievements and a lot of bonus materials.
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered will be released on December 10 on PC (990 rubles on Steam), PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, S and Nintendo Switch. In the story, the vampire Raziel, who has risen from the dead, sets out to take revenge on his former master Cain.
