The Witcher series of books by Polish science fiction writer Andrzej Sapkowski started back in 1986, but for the last 11 years there have been no new releases. However, this will change very soon.
The fact that Sapkowski is working on a new novel about the witcher Geralt of Rivia became known last summer. The Polish premiere was expected at the end of 2024, and the international premiere at the beginning of 2025.
At a recent press conference, Sapkowski announced that the new Witcher book will appear in Polish stores in early December. The Redanian Intelligence portal clarifies that we are talking about December 1st.
The opening chapter of the next “The Witcher” will be published before the premiere of the novel, on November 22, in the magazine Nowa Fantastyka – it was in this magazine that Sapkowski’s original story about Geralt was one of the first to be published 38 years ago.
It is noteworthy that, despite the proximity of the premiere, the title of the new book is still kept secret, but not at Sapkowski’s request. As GRY-Online reported, the publisher of the novel insisted on such secrecy.
The new work will be the first book in the Witcher series since 2013, when Season of Thunderstorms was released in Poland. The future novel is positioned as an independent one and will be entirely dedicated to Geralt.
After the release of “Season of Thunderstorms,” the writer repeatedly hinted that he would release another book, but the impetus for writing was the Netflix series “The Witcher,” which launched in 2019.
