Oppo has followed in Apple’s footsteps by equipping the new iPhone 16 with a button for interacting with the camera located on the side of the smartphone. A similar solution from Oppo is called Quick Capture and is a touch button for quick access to the camera. It will appear in the new Find X8 series smartphones.
Now a short video has appeared on the Internet in which Oppo Find product manager demonstrates the operation of the Quick Capture function. You need to press the button twice to launch the camera, and a long press allows you to take a photo. In addition, you can control the zoom by swiping on the button.
The main reason for the Quick Capture button is that it is not always convenient to take a photo by tapping on the smartphone screen. The mentioned video is about using a smartphone underwater, where it is difficult to press the screen. Find X8 smartphones will receive protection from dust and moisture according to the IP68 standard, which will allow them to be used in water. The video notes that working with the button on the side of the case is convenient in both landscape and portrait orientations.
Note that Oppo already had a similar function implemented in the Find X7 Ultra with the proprietary ColorOS 14 interface. Double-clicking the volume button also allows you to launch the camera. The volume button can then be used to control zoom, although it’s not as smooth as swiping.
