In a year, Apple will release the second generation of AR headset Vision Pro on the M5 processor – Ming-Chi Kuo

The weak market success of Apple’s first augmented reality headset is even indicated by the fact that the company began offering it outside the United States quite quickly. Meanwhile, informed sources believe that Apple will develop this category of devices quite actively, and in the second half of next year it will offer a Vision Pro version based on the M5 processor.

Well-known expert Ming-Chi Kuo shared his forecasts on this matter this week. In his opinion, the second generation Vision Pro will not receive significant changes in design and characteristics, but the M2 processor, which is quite mature by the standards of Apple’s component base, will give way to the more advanced M5.

It is still difficult to judge whether the transition to using the M5 will guarantee the second generation of Apple Vision Pro Apple Intelligence artificial intelligence functions, but iPad tablets and Mac computers based on M2 family processors support a range of these functions. According to some reports, there is already evidence of the first generation of Vision Pro being prepared to work with Apple Intelligence functions. In theory, the transition to M5 will allow the second generation Vision Pro headset to provide users with everything they need to effectively work with artificial intelligence. On the other hand, minimal changes in characteristics combined with the transition to a more modern processor are unlikely to reduce the price of Vision Pro when the second generation of the headset is released. This doesn’t mean Apple isn’t preparing a cheaper headset of this type.
