Also, the SteamDB website currently lists a large number of games being tested by Valve that support Windows on Arm (WoA). While Valve has yet to make any official announcement regarding ARM64 support on SteamOS or Proton, this could confirm its intention to push Linux gaming in general.
According to the source, Valve wants to expand its gaming audience with Linux devices, going beyond x86 hardware and providing support for Windows on Arm (WoA) games. There is also mention of a Waydroid app. This means that even Android devices on Arm could receive Proton support, which will undoubtedly significantly expand Valve’s audience.
There has also been speculation online that Valve may be developing its own Arm devices as a cheaper alternative to the Steam Deck handheld game console, although this seems unlikely given the Steam Deck’s already low starting price.
