Developers talked about the Sony PlayStation 5 Pro console at Gamescom 2024

New rumors about the imminent release of the Sony PlayStation 5 Pro game console appeared during the annual Gamescom 2024 conference, which took place this week in Germany. Despite the fact that the Japanese company did not announce any official information about the new product, the developers who took part in the event spoke about the upcoming release.

This is how one of the developers told a journalist from the Italian resource Multiplayer about the postponement of the game’s release due to the upcoming launch of the PlayStation 5 Pro. He also said that he knows the specifications of the new console and, in his opinion, games based on the Unreal Engine 5 will run “much better” on the updated PlayStation 5 Pro hardware than on the standard PlayStation 5. According to rumors, Sony may officially introduce a more powerful version of its gaming console as part of the Tokyo Games Show event, which will take place in September this year. Probably, if this is true, then the PlayStation 5 Pro could go on sale as early as November.

Sony’s intention to release PS5 Pro has been known for quite some time. This version of the console is expected to be 45% more powerful than the standard PS5. This will be provided by a new custom processor codenamed Trinity from AMD. Ray tracing will work 2-3 times faster. There will be support for PlayStation Super Resolution scaling technology based on artificial intelligence. It is assumed that to speed up the execution of AI tasks, the console will be equipped with a processor with a built-in coprocessor (NPU). What Sony is actually preparing will probably be revealed next month.
