Firewalk Studios’ (Sony-owned) team-based hero shooter Concord has yet to set itself apart from the competition, but in at least one aspect the game from the former Destiny 2 and Apex Legends developers will go its own way.
In the official collection of answers to players’ questions about what Concord will be like after launch, Firewalk Studios announced that the project will do without battle passes (both at the start and in the future).
The studio hopes that “just playing, leveling up your account and characters, completing tasks” will be fun enough. In the meantime, there are no plans to include paid content in regular post-release seasons and updates.
«No battle pass, guys. You own Concord, and not Concord you,” assured the director of gameplay animations in the game, Mark DeRidder, on his personal microblog.
Among other things, they promise 16 heroes, 12 maps, six modes and hundreds of customization items at launch, regular updates (maps, characters, modes) and weekly “cinematic vignettes”.
Last week’s open beta of Concord attracted only 2.3 thousand concurrent users on Steam, which is an alarming sign for a service game coming out in a few weeks.
Concord will be available on August 23rd for PC (Steam, EGS) and PS5 for $40. The game will offer to assemble a group of space criminals who perform dangerous tasks and compete with other squads of free shooters.
