Blogger Proxy Gate Tactician with 1400 hours in Baldur’s Gate 3 decided to check what measures Larian Studios has taken to prevent players of the fantasy RPG from becoming victims of their own stupidity. Warning: possible spoilers for the third act.
We are talking about three Netherian stones – powerful magical artifacts needed to complete Baldur’s Gate 3. Despite all their plot importance, Larian does not limit players in handling these items.
If a gamer, through carelessness (or stupidity), throws a stone, for example, into a bottomless abyss, he will face a unique cruel “gameover” (see video below), but Larian has also provided for more exotic scenarios.
In the third act of Baldur’s Gate 3, there are two story locations that cannot be returned to after completion – the Iron Throne underwater prison and the Steel Guard foundry. What happens if you drop Netherian stones there?
As Proxy Gate Tactician found out, in both of these cases, Larian prepared a mini-quest to return the player his stones:
Proxy Gate Tactician also found a scenario for losing a Netherese stone that was not provided for by Larian. If you leave artifacts in the jungle where the genie carries them, you will not be able to return for them. The game won’t end there, but the story won’t be completed either.
Baldur’s Gate 3 left early access on PC (Steam, GOG) last August, and has since appeared on Mac, PS5, Xbox Series X and S. The upcoming seventh major patch will not be the last update for the game.
