Xiaomi has unveiled the Redmi Note 14S, a new smartphone for the Central and Eastern European markets. However, despite the marketing pitch, it is identical to the Redmi Note 13 Pro 4G, with the exception of changes in the design of the camera unit. This is another example of Xiaomi’s strategy of minimally updating the model range, in which older devices receive minor design modifications without major hardware changes.

Xiaomi has changed the shape and layout of the sensors, giving the device an updated appearance, but structurally and technically it completely repeats last year’s model. The smartphone is equipped with a MediaTek Helio G99 processor, manufactured using a 6-nm process technology.

The Redmi Note 14S screen also remains unchanged – it is a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a Full HD+ resolution (2400 × 1080 pixels) and a refresh rate of 120 Hz, providing a smooth interface and comfortable viewing of content. The main camera of the device is represented by a 200-megapixel sensor, which is positioned as one of the key advantages of the model.

When Xiaomi released the Redmi Note 13 Pro 4G in early 2024, it was already running the outdated Android 13. Now, the manufacturer hasn’t even mentioned the operating system version of the Redmi Note 14S, which only increases suspicions: the device is likely running the same version of Android without an update. Moreover, the proprietary HyperOS shell appears to be based on a two-year-old version of Android.

Xiaomi offers Redmi Note 14S in three colors: blue, purple and black. The official price of the new product is only $260. For this money, the buyer gets a device with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of built-in storage.
