There are still three months left before the premiere of the second season of the animated series Arcane based on League of Legends, but as many as five episodes of the upcoming Netflix show have already been released to the public.
According to eyewitness accounts, the episodes are available in low-definition (360p) with an “Internal Use” watermark and music and sound effects annotations, and no post-production effects.
In other words, the materials were clearly not planned for publication. The thematic subforum of Reddit has already enabled protection against plot spoilers, but in X it’s easy to stumble upon “leaked” episodes or excerpts from them.
As noted by the IGN portal, the leak of five episodes of the second season of Arcane occurred the day after Netflix, apparently (the company has not yet commented), had a security breach.
As a result of yesterday’s situation, several upcoming Netflix anime series (three episodes of Ranma ½, six episodes of Dandadan and the entirety of Terminator Zero) and the film Mononoke the Movie: Phantom in the Rain were also released into the public domain.
Last fall, Netflix revealed that the second season of Arcane would premiere in November 2024. With a teaser trailer in June, it was confirmed that the new season will be the last for the animated series.
«Arcane follows two sisters, Vi and Jinx, as war rages between their city of Piltover and the subterranean city of Zaun. A “dramatic escalation of the conflict” is expected in the sequel.
