There are game series from which you always know what to expect. A new game comes out with familiar words in the title, start it and get it exactly what you even paid attention to it. Many Sniper Elite fans were sure to announce the announcement and release of Sniper Elite: Resistance – by the absence of the number in the title, it is clear that this is about the same as Sniper Elite 5, only in new decorations and with a new plot. And the “Five” turned out to be quite a good game. However, even at some point you eat up with a delicious dish so that it does not bring previous pleasure, and in the case of this series, an analogy from year to year is more and more accurate.

⇡#Someone is familiar

This time the main character was not Karl, as in all license plates Sniper Elite, but Harry Hoker. Only those who went through the games in cooperative mode were known about this character – it was Harry that managed the second player. The fact is that Resistance events unfold at the same time as the plot of the fifth part – in the role of an agent of the operational detachment, we penetrate the occupied France and help fighters of resistance to find out everything about the super -armed of the Nazis.

After so many years, playing not for Karl, of course, unusual

Karl was a rather “wooden” character, whom there was nothing to remember, but Harry was even more dull. The scriptwriters did not spend time on his elaboration at all – and there are very few videos with his participation, and his appearance is boring, and his conversations with himself quickly begin to bore. Yes, I still realized in the first mission that you can hide in the high grass, I do not need to remind me of this every ten minutes.

Therefore, history is not of interest, and I would like to miss briefings in front of the missions as soon as possible. It seems strange to talk about the low quality of the plot in Sniper Elite, but Resistance seemed to have broken down the next bottom – so indifferent I was never a narrative in this series. This, on the one hand, is predictable, but on the other hand, since you have chosen a new character, well, come up with him at least something interesting! At least write to him the background, invent unusual character traits, which Karl did not have. But no, the same “wood”.

Harry rarely says something useful-the player knows a lot and understands without him

Due to how worthless the story turned out to be, the game seems not even a branch, but a great addition. And in the gameplay, this also manifests itself – in terms of gameplay, this is literally the same game as the Sniper Elite 5. You have the same arsenal, you also visit large locations and perform tasks there, use the same ways to drown out the sounds of shooting from a sniper rifles. It comes to the funny – even the tree of skills was exactly moved from the fifth part. That then there were very few valuable acquisitions, that now there is almost nothing to pump. All sorts of bonuses like automatic marks that are placed on enemies shooting at the character, as if they should be unlocked initially.

The absence of gameplay innovations leads to the fact that there is a feeling of deja vu constantly – as if you were cleaned with exactly the same card a few years ago in the fifth part. In fact, this is not so, but the use of the same resources is striking regularly, and the most striking example is the first and fourth missions that send the player to the same region. It seems that in the passage of a similar game there are advantages: you already know how and what to do, how to use anti -personnel mines more efficiently, which sights are good and so on. But at the same time, you feel so comfortable that as if you were going through once again the game-and the Sniper Elite 5 is still not the project that you want to return to years later.

Fortunately, the main advantages of the series, which have developed over the course of five games, remained in place. In late releases, the developers tried to turn Sniper Elite into something like Hitman, throwing the hero into a large location and allowing them to have fun, as if you wish. If you want – Pour in tall grass and pistolik to shoot each oncoming one, or lure enemies with whistles, as in Assassin’s Creed. If you want, get binoculars and mark all the goals, and then look for far -standing towers or break the generators so that they make noise and do not give out your location. But usually everything happens according to one scenario: you shoot from the rifle, they notice you, raise the alarm, try to escape and simultaneously shoot back with a submachine gun, die and load from the last control point.

There are only nine full -fledged missions, but they are quite long, especially if you pay attention to all available tasks – in addition to plot instructions, there are additional tasks and important goals. Moreover, bonus tests are associated with the latter – you need to not just shoot the Gestapo, but force him to fall from the dam or drop the cargo on it. Well, collectible objects have not gone anywhere – on each card and personal letters lie, and secret documents, and stone eagles, only there is a little meaning in all this. It is most important to look for workbench, since it is with their help that you open the vast majority of body kit for rifles.

The whistle greatly facilitates the stealth episodes

Also at most levels you can find propaganda posters – they open in the main menu “Testing Propaganda”, where in the role of secondary characters you perform tasks for a while. Like many entertainments outside the story campaign, these tests are not worth the time spent – I don’t want to rush in the game about the sniper. In addition to testing, there is a “survival” mode with the waves of opponents, and several modes of the network game completely copied from the fifth part. Although the action is available to the Game Pass to subscribers, there is a feeling that the life of this multiplayer will be short – he quickly bored in the fifth part, and here it will get bored, since there are no changes.

Among all secondary entertainments, the most interesting is still the opportunity to invade other people’s worlds, as in Dark Souls. Run to the goal, predict her movements, help enemy soldiers to defeat her, as well as to arrange traps, including mining corpses (preferably those that the victim has not yet searched). I don’t really like to be someone’s goal in such games, but it’s always fun to hunt, plus, as it seemed to me, there are not many tall labyrinth buildings, as it was in the “five”. But, like everything in Resistance, we have already seen this regime in the last Sniper Elite, and no innovations appeared.

And most importantly – the company “X -ray”, which always distinguished these action from all the others, is already finally tired. It is not clear what this is connected with – either these moments are not so cool, or the addition of an “X -ray” during murders in close combat has depreciated such episodes. Or maybe the game itself, which is simply boring to pass, and because of this, even spectacular scenes do not cause emotions. In Resistance, I began to miss the “X -rays” by the end of the first mission, after which I generally reduced the chance of their show in the settings. Still, they take too much time-the new audience will surely appreciate them, but those who have already passed many “snipers”, all this is not something that is not impressive, but simply annoying.

It can be assumed that Sniper Elite: Resistance is a kind of “plug” between the fifth and sixth parts. But even such projects usually try to make at least a little others. They often turn out to be bad-for example, Far Cry New Dawn and Wolfenstein: Youngblood were nasty branches, but in its own original, with RPG elements and other innovations. Immediately-a continuous “copy-paste” without the slightest attempt to bring something original. It would be normal to get this in addition a couple of months after the release of the source game, but not after two years and not at the full price. And even a fairly large duration does not help – rather, on the contrary. It’s time to change something in this series-she has where to develop, but the developers seem to be afraid to ruin something. It’s time to take risks – the former formula clearly outlived itself.

Advantages:

  • Large cards that allow you to approach the implementation of the main missions and additional tasks in different ways;
  • Still pleasant shooting from sniper rifles;
  • A fairly large arsenal, especially if you take into account all kinds of body kit;
  • Funny mode “Invasion” in the spirit of the Seolslowers.

Disadvantages:

  • Too much was copied from the fifth part – even the tree of skills is the same, not to mention gameplay;
  • The most dull plot, which seemed to be written last, with a boring main character;
  • Additional entertainment does not cost the time spent;
  • «X -ray ”is already tired.

Graphic arts

There are no obvious changes compared to the “five” – resistance looks about the same. And the interface is generally identical.

Sound

The music is new, but also similar to what sounded in the fifth part. In general, these games are better to go without music – in particular, to better hear where there is noise and you can safely shoot from a rifle without attracting attention.

Single player game

The plot campaign of nine missions stuffed with collectible objects. Plus bonus modes like testing for a while and battles with the waves of enemies.

Collective game

As always, the campaign can be held in a cooperative (the cross -fuss is also supported). If this seems a little, there are network modes – and where everyone is for yourself, and where you share the commands, and where you run in pairs. But this is not the multiplayer that will be relevant for a long time.

General impression

The exact copy of the fifth part is difficult to get rid of the feeling that two and a half years later you are repeatedly passed the game that was not going to return to. I really want to see the serious development of the series – even the “chips” once beloved no longer cling to, because they are tired.
