MediaTek has announced plans to expand its partnership with NVIDIA by integrating NVLink into its ASICs, DigiTimes reported. In turn, smbom.com writes that the partners intend to jointly develop advanced solutions using NVLink and 224G SerDes. Analysts suggest that NVIDIA’s entry into the ASIC sector will allow it to accelerate further advancement in the market using MediaTek’s experience and at the same time solve existing problems.
As the cooperation between the two companies develops, analysts expect more cloud service providers to show interest in working with MediaTek. The implementation of NVLink in MediaTek’s ASICs can significantly increase the attractiveness of NVIDIA’s networking solutions. By joining forces, NVIDIA and MediaTek will be able to offer a comprehensive custom ASIC development, which will include HBM4e support, an extensive library of IP blocks, and advanced manufacturing and packaging processes. MediaTek specifically emphasized that its SerDes blocks are a key advantage in ASIC development.

The companies are expanding their collaboration with the world’s leading semiconductor foundries, focusing on advanced process technologies. Using design-to-design co-optimization (DTCO) technology, they aim to achieve an optimal balance between performance, power consumption, and area (PPA). Several cloud providers are reportedly already exploring the combined IP portfolio of NVIDIA and MediaTek.
Google has already reportedly tapped MediaTek to develop its seventh-generation 3nm TPU, which will enter mass production by Q3 2026. The transition to the 3nm process is expected to bring MediaTek more than $2 billion in additional revenue. According to supply chain sources, the eighth-generation TPU will transition to TSMC’s 2nm process, further strengthening MediaTek’s position.
It is also predicted that the upcoming release of the GB10 chip jointly developed by NVIDIA and MediaTek, and the long-awaited N1x chip, will significantly improve MediaTek’s business operations and further strengthen the company’s position in the semiconductor industry. Industry experts believe that MediaTek is well positioned to become a key beneficiary of the growing demand for AI technologies, especially for small and medium enterprises.
