Development was taken over by the recently launched gaming division Iwot Studios (responsible for Amazon’s Wheel of Time series), led by former Warner Bros. Games vice president Craig Alexander.

The project is positioned as a AAA role-playing game in an open world. According to Iwot Studios CEO Rick Selvage, the developers will try to “cover everything described in the books, as well as elements of the backstory.”

Iwot Studios’ ambitious Wheel of Time RPG doesn’t have a name or release date yet, but the company expects to complete production within three years. The game is planned for PC and unnamed consoles.

The RPG will be part of Iwot’s multi-platform strategy to expand the franchise’s reach, with a prequel film, Age of Legends, and a 3D animated film (being made by Squeeze Animation Studios) also in the works.

It’s worth noting that the upcoming adaptation won’t be the first Wheel of Time game. That title belongs to the 1999 fantasy shooter The Wheel of Time. In 2022, the project was given a new lease of life by Nightdive Studios and GOG.
