Let us recall that the fundraising for Star Citizen began back in 2012 on Kickstarter (a little over $2 million), after which it was moved to the official website: $100 million in 2015, $300 million in 2020, $600 million in 2023, and $700 million last spring.
As it became known, by now over $800 million has been raised for the production and development of Star Citizen. The most productive week in terms of collections in recent times was the week from March 23 to 30 (more than $4 million).

As for CitizenCon, this time the annual festival will be held only in a digital format and will be called CitizenCon Direct. The broadcast is scheduled for October 11. You can follow the event on Twitch and YouTube.
CitizenCon Direct organizers promise “lots of announcements, exciting surprises, and a fun way for many of you to participate in entertaining activities with CIG developers, no matter where you are in the world.”

CIG explained the decision not to hold CitizenCon in the traditional format by the team’s focus on the development of Squadron 42, a story-driven game set in the Star Citizen universe announced for 2026.
Star Citizen is still in alpha stage and has no release date for version 1.0. At release, the game will offer an MMO sandbox with a mix of PvP, PvE and non-combat gameplay, extensive guild and profession systems, a story campaign and endgame content.
