US billionaire Elon Musk, who owns Social Network X, has already missed one meeting with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) this month, but now his lawyers have assured the court that he will miss another testimony event next week I don’t intend to.
Recall that this month Musk neglected his duty to appear in San Francisco to testify in the case of his purchase of Twitter in 2022, which he later renamed X and seriously reformed. The billionaire explained his actions by the need to attend the launch of the SpaceX spacecraft in Florida with astronauts on board. At the same time, the cancellation of the billionaire’s visit to the SEC office came as a surprise even to his lawyers, who arrived in San Francisco to provide his legal support.
Now lawyers are forced to provide the court with additional guarantees of Elon Musk’s appearance at a new hearing, which is scheduled for next week in San Francisco. Owner X is understood to have previously stated that he gave evidence in this case twice during 2022 and now believes he has nothing to add. Last September, he also ignored the subpoena.
One of the lawyers close to Musk, Alex Spiro, is forced to be distracted by work with another client – former New York Mayor Eric Adams, whose bribery case is currently being heard in federal court in Manhattan. According to the judge, Musk will not be able to reschedule a new meeting with SEC representatives scheduled for October 3 to another date due to the workload of his lead lawyer.
