Today, September 20, 2024, the cult strategy Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War from developers from Relic Entertainment turned 20 years old, and publisher Sega did not leave fans without a gift for the anniversary.
As users have noticed, in honor of the significant date, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War has been updated on Steam to a special anniversary edition, which, along with the main game, includes the additions Winter Assault, Dark Crusade and Soulstorm.
Owners of any edition of Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War received the upgrade to the Anniversary Edition for free. Sega also staged a similar promotion with Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 2, which turned 15 in February.
As part of the Anniversary Edition, the Steam version of Dawn of War 2 now includes access to the Retribution and Chaos Rising addons, as well as all other multiplayer skins and equipment for the campaign and Last Stand mode from individual DLCs.
«Just upgraded DoW1 and DoW2 to two fantastic anniversary editions that include all the content from the games with their DLC and expansions. If you are the owner, then now it all belongs to you!” — the microblog of the series reported.
The only fly in the ointment for Warhammer 40,000 fans is that the upgrade to the Anniversary Editions does not include technical improvements, bug fixes, or increased compatibility of the games with modern hardware.
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War launched back in 2004, and Dawn of War 2 was released in 2009. Both games received high ratings and won the love of fans, which cannot be said about Dawn of War 3, released in 2017.
