Qualcomm presented the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 single-chip platform. The new product debuted without much fanfare – it simply appeared on the company’s official website. This chip is designed for mid-range smartphones. It’s similar in many ways to the older Snapdragon 7s Gen 2, but has lower clock speeds on its power-efficient cores and supports lower refresh rate displays.

The new product is produced using a 4nm process technology. The Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 includes four Cortex-A78 cores with a frequency of 2.4 GHz, four Cortex-A55 with a frequency of 1.8 GHz, and an Adreno 710 GPU. The frequency of the Cortex-A78 cores is the same as the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2, however, the Cortex-A55 cores of the new processor are 150 MHz slower.

Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 supports displays with Full HD+ resolution and refresh rates up to 120Hz. In turn, Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 supports screens with refresh rates up to 144 Hz.

The new product claims to support LPDDR4X and LPDDR5 RAM, as well as UFS 3.1 permanent memory. There is also support for Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi 6E wireless standards, and QuickCharge 4+ fast charging. Also, Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 can work with one 48 MP camera sensor for continuous shooting, with two sensors of 32 MP and 16 MP, and supports shooting photos with a resolution of up to 200 MP.

Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 delivers improved AI performance for tasks like activity tracking and call noise reduction. Qualcomm has not published an official press release about this processor, so it is unknown when this chip will begin shipping to mobile device manufacturers.
