Following the release date, developers from Bethesda Game Studios at gamescom 2024 revealed other details of the Shattered Space story addition to the space role-playing game Starfield.
It was previously reported that Shattered Space will send players to the city of Dazra on a secret planet to uncover the secrets of the House of Va’ruun – a religious cult that worships the Great Serpent – and confront a mysterious cosmic threat.
In the story, due to an unsuccessful experiment by the House of Va’ruun with gravitational drive technology, the cosmos literally split – Dazra found himself cut off from the rest of the world inside gravitational vortices – and monsters from other dimensions entered reality.
The world of House Va’ruun is unlike other planets in Starfield and has a more alien character. The addon will also bring with it elements of cosmic horror that were not present in the main game.
Shattered Space will answer questions that users still have about the House of Va’ruun after completing Starfield, and will also offer new unique weapons, spacesuits and equipment.
The player can leave the world of House Va’ruun at any time, but the plot of Shattered Space is entirely concentrated within this man-made location – according to observers, the addon feels like an addition to past Bethesda games.
Starfield: Shattered Space will be released on September 30 on PC (Steam, Microsoft Store), Xbox Series X and S. The cost will be $30, but owners of the premium and collector’s editions of the game will receive the expansion for free.
