Firaxis community manager Sarah Engel has announced a small but significant change to the global strategy of Sid Meier’s Civilization VI, which will extend to the upcoming sequel.
We are talking about the 2K launcher through which Sid Meier’s Civilization VI opens on PC. The launcher has been annoying gamers for several years now, but gamers quickly found a way around it.
As it became known, with the update released on August 15 from Sid Meier’s Civilization VI on Steam, the 2K launcher was officially removed completely. In the near future, the same thing awaits the version of the game for the Epic Games Store.
Additionally, the 2K launcher will not be used in the upcoming Sid Meier’s Civilization VII, according to Engel. Fans on the Reddit forum reacted to this news with enthusiasm.
Some reactions from delighted fans on Reddit:
- «God bless. Really tired of half a dozen launchers on my computer in addition to Steam,” Graymaven exhaled;
- «Truth be told, many of us have bypassed this launcher entirely. He was even worse than worthless,” recalls darthreuental;
