Confirmed by the HBO network a year and a half ago, the second season of The Last of Us series based on the adventure franchise of the same name from Naughty Dog received its first teaser trailer.
The first look at the second season of The Last of Us was included in a two-minute trailer for HBO’s upcoming television shows scheduled for the rest of 2024 and 2025.
The show’s teaser is 23 seconds long and features footage of Kaitlyn Dever’s Abby, Isabela Merced as Dina, and Jeffrey Wright, who plays his familiar role as Isaac.
«I saved her,” smuggler Joel, played by Pedro Pascal, insists in the teaser when asked what he did to Ellie. She is still portrayed by Bella Ramsey in season two.
The events of the second season of The Last of Us will unfold five years after the finale of the first. The sequel will be based on the story of The Last of Us Part II, but the show will not be a complete retelling of the game.
Screenwriter Craig Mazin, in an interview with Deadline published a month ago, argued that the plot of The Last of Us Part II could be stretched over several seasons of the series, since there is much more material in the sequel than in the first part.
The second season of HBO’s The Last of Us is scheduled to premiere in 2025. In the same conversation with Deadline, Mazin confirmed that the upcoming show will have seven episodes (two less than the first season).
